We held our first ever Early Music workshop in Kyoto, Japan, on 26-27 August 2024. We had a total of 5 trumpeters and 3 singers who participated in it.
On the first day we started with a trumpet group session. 3 of the trumpeters played the baroque trumpet for the first time! It was then followed by a few individual lessons, and at the end of the day Danny and Ai gave a concert to showcase the stylistic possibilities of historically informed performance practice (HIPP). The concert was open to public as well.
We started the 2nd day with the remaining individual lessons for the trumpeters, and then some ensemble coaching sessions. At the end of the day there was a little presentation by the participants.
We would like to give thanks to the following parties:
– Arts Support Kansai for their patronage
– NAMM Hall and its owner Nakamoto-san for the wonderful venue
– Mitsuhashi Sakurako-san for her beautiful playing and support
– Yasuda-san for his reliable cembalo rental and on-site tuning
– Everybody who participated in the workshop and attended the concert!
We hope to be able to make this into an annual event. Please email us if you would like to be added to our mailing list for events like this!
